Postpartum Doula Visit

A Postpartum Doula Visit is a 60-minute visit with a Mahmee doula. It is offered after birth. It can be virtual, in your home, or in a clinic. Postpartum Doula Visit is covered by 10 health plans.

A visit with a Mahmee doula after your baby is born to talk about your recovery, caring for your baby, and the support you need.

What happens in this visit

  1. Your doula asks how you are feeling, and how things are going with your baby and at home.
  2. You talk about your recovery, rest, and the emotional changes that can come after birth.
  3. Your doula helps with what you want to focus on, such as feeding basics, sleep, soothing, and daily baby care.
  4. Your doula can walk you through hands-on skills like swaddling, bathing, diapering, and feeding positions, in person or over video.
  5. If you want to, you can talk through your birth experience, especially if it did not go as you hoped.
  6. You make a plan together for your support in the weeks ahead, including help from the people around you.
